What Is My IP Address?
Your public IP address is the address websites and online services see when you connect to the internet. It is assigned by an Internet Service Provider and may be IPv4, IPv6 or both. The result above shows the current IP visible to this website.
What Is My IPv4 Address?
IPv4 is the most common internet address format. It contains four groups of numbers, such as 203.0.113.42. A public IPv4 can change when you reconnect, change networks or use a different provider.
What Is My IPv6 Address?
IPv6 is a newer address format designed for the growing number of connected devices. If IPv6 is not detected above, your current connection may be IPv4-only.
What Is My IP Location?
IP geolocation associates an IP with an approximate country, region, city or network gateway. It is not GPS and normally cannot identify an exact home address. VPNs, proxies, mobile networks and ISP routing can make an IP location appear wrong.
How Accurate Is My IP Location?
An IP location is an estimate based on network registration and routing data. Country-level results are usually more reliable than a city, postal code, latitude or longitude. The coordinates often point to a provider gateway or the centre of an area rather than your physical location.
Why Is My IP Location Wrong?
A wrong IP location can be caused by ISP routing, a mobile carrier, CGNAT, a regional gateway, VPN, proxy, hosting network or an outdated geolocation database. This is why an IP may show another city or country even when the connection is working normally.
What Is My ISP and ASN?
An ISP is the network that provides your internet connection. An ASN, or Autonomous System Number, identifies a network on the internet. Accurate ISP, network owner and ASN data requires a current lookup source; this tool does not invent unavailable values.
Public IP vs Private IP Address
| Public IP | Private IP |
|---|---|
| Visible to websites | Used inside a local network |
| Assigned by an ISP | Assigned by a router |
| Example: 203.0.113.10 | Example: 192.168.1.10 |
Your public or external IP identifies the internet connection. A private, local or internal IP identifies a device inside a LAN, Wi-Fi or home network. Your router connects the two using its LAN address and WAN IP address.
How Do I Find My IP Address?
The easiest way to find your public IP address is to open this page. SMSPVA automatically displays the current IPv4 or IPv6 address visible to websites. Device settings may show a different local address.
How to Find My IP Address on Windows
Open Settings, choose Network & Internet, select the active Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection and open its properties. Windows shows the local IPv4 or IPv6 address; the public address remains the one displayed above.
How to Find My IP Address on Mac
Open System Settings, choose Network and select the connected interface. The address shown there normally belongs to your local network, while this page reports the public IP used on the internet.
How to Find My IP Address on Android
Open Wi-Fi settings, select the connected network and view its network details. Mobile data and Wi-Fi can use different public IP addresses, so reload this page after switching connections.
How to Find My IP Address on iPhone
Open Settings, tap Wi-Fi and select the information icon beside the connected network to see the local address. The public iPhone IP or mobile IP is shown by this tool.
What Is My IP Address on Wi-Fi?
A Wi-Fi device normally has a private local address assigned by the router and shares the router's public WAN IP with other devices. Your WiFi IP address in system settings may therefore differ from the public IP address websites see.
Why Does My IP Address Change?
Most home and mobile connections use a dynamic IP address assigned through DHCP. Restarting a router, switching Wi-Fi, enabling mobile data, reconnecting to the provider or using a VPN can change the IP websites see. A static IP address is designed to remain stable but usually requires a specific provider service.
What Does My IP Address Reveal?
An IP can reveal an approximate country or region, ISP, ASN, network organization, timezone and possible connection type. It does not normally reveal your name, phone number, browsing history, exact street address or GPS position.
Can Someone Find My Exact Location From My IP?
No. A public IP normally reveals only an approximate geographic area. IP address location is not precise enough to identify an exact home address, apartment or live GPS location.
Can Someone Track Me With My IP?
An IP can be recorded by websites and linked with other activity on that service, but the address alone does not identify a person. Online tracking usually combines cookies, accounts, browser fingerprinting and other signals.
How Can I Hide My IP Address?
A VPN, proxy or Tor can replace the public IP visible to a website. For a separate connection for legitimate work, you can rent a private proxy. If a service also needs SMS confirmation, use a private activation number for one code or rent a number for ongoing access.
Does a VPN Hide My IP Address?
A VPN tunnel routes traffic through a VPN server. Websites see the VPN server IP and approximate VPN location instead of the public IP assigned directly to your connection.
Does a Proxy Hide My IP?
A proxy server can show its own proxy IP to the destination. Different proxy types handle browser and application traffic differently, so verify the result by reloading this IP checker.
Does Tor Hide My IP?
Tor Browser sends traffic through the Tor network and exposes a Tor exit node to the destination. Tor is different from a conventional VPN connection or private proxy.
How to Check If My VPN Is Working
Check the IP above before connecting, connect your VPN, then reload this page. If the current IP, country, ISP or ASN changes, the VPN is probably routing browser traffic through its server.
What Does My Browser Reveal?
A browser request can reveal the browser name and version, operating system, device type, User-Agent string, language and timezone. More advanced browser tests can inspect screen resolution, HTTP protocol, HTTPS and TLS version, request headers, DNS leaks, WebRTC leaks and browser fingerprinting.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is my public IP address?
It is the current external address displayed at the top of this page — the address websites can see.
Can someone find my exact location from my IP?
No. IP geolocation is normally approximate, not GPS.
Does a proxy hide my IP?
A proxy can show its own IP to the destination website. Use services responsibly and follow their rules.
Can a VPN change my IP address?
Yes. A working VPN normally replaces the public IP visible to websites with the VPN server IP.
Is my IP the same on every device?
Devices behind one router often share a public IPv4 while keeping separate local IP addresses. IPv6 behaviour can differ by network.
Can I share SMSPVA?
Yes. The SMSPVA referral program lets you share the service with your audience.
IP Location, Country and Geographic Location
An IP location lookup, IP address lookup or IP checker usually reports an approximate location: country, country code, IP country, region, state or province, city, postal code or ZIP code, latitude, longitude and coordinates. This is IP geolocation, not a physical location or exact address. IP location accuracy depends on the geolocation database and may be affected by ISP routing, a regional gateway, mobile carrier, mobile network, CGNAT, VPN, proxy or datacenter IP. That is why my IP location can show another city or another country.
Network, Hostname and Connection Details
Network information can include a hostname, host name, reverse DNS lookup, PTR record, network range and IP range. A network provider, internet provider, organization, network organization or network owner may operate the address. This page is an IP lookup and IP address checker, but it does not claim proxy detection, Tor detection, IP reputation, fraud score, blacklist or threat detection without a dedicated data source.
Wi-Fi, Router and Local IP
Your WiFi IP, Wi-Fi IP address, router IP, LAN IP, local IP address and internal IP address are normally private network values. Your router uses a WAN IP, external IP or public IP address for the internet. Devices on the same home network can have different local IP addresses but share one current IP address visible to websites.
Dynamic IP, Static IP and VPN Check
A dynamic IP address can change through DHCP, IP assignment by an ISP, reconnecting, switching Wi-Fi or mobile data, or using a VPN. A static IP address is intended to remain stable. To check if VPN is working, check my IP before connecting, join the VPN tunnel, reload this VPN checker, then compare the VPN IP, VPN server IP, VPN location and ISP. A VPN can hide IP exposure by showing a VPN exit IP; a proxy server can similarly show a proxy IP address. To change or mask my IP for legitimate work, use a private proxy.
Browser, Device and Privacy
Browser information and browser details may include browser version, User-Agent or user agent string, operating system, device type, browser language and request headers such as Accept-Language. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge identify themselves differently. Screen resolution, HTTP, HTTPS, TLS, DNS leak, WebRTC leak and browser fingerprinting require browser-side tests; this page does not pretend to run a DNS leak test, WebRTC leak test or fingerprint checker.
Can Someone Track My IP?
What does my IP reveal? It can reveal IP details such as approximate geographic location, network and internet connection. It does not normally reveal a home address, exact location or GPS location. For online privacy, avoid sharing sensitive data and use a separate number for account verification: get an activation number for one code or rent a number when you need continued access.
